Cold Steel CST-89PA Medieval Killer Axe

Cold Steel Medieval Pollaxe

On the medieval battlefield, the pollaxe (or poleaxe) was the great equalizer between the lowly infantryman and the immensely powerful mounted knight, thanks to its long reach and resounding power. Surprisingly nimble, it was the machine gun of its era and simply unstoppable due to its maneuverability.

Today's pollaxe retains the same properties that made it famous on the battlefields of yesteryear. Just as capable of defeating modern armor today as it was the armor of old knights, it demonstrates true effectiveness.

Through years of experimentation and cross-training with axes, glaives, halberds, and other polearms from around the world, and by examining a variety of martial cultures, Lynn C. Thompson, founder of Cold Steel®, discovered the enormous potential of the polearm against legions of opponents, even those equipped with modern armor and aids. Having long felt a special affection for this weapon, he decided to release his own modern interpretation of this impressive instrument.

The Cold Steel® pollaxe is expertly forged from 1055 carbon steel. The extremely sharp axe blade and the robust hammer head have been differentially hardened. Thus, their edges are hard, while the rest of the body is somewhat softer to absorb blows and impacts.

The sturdy ash wood handle is made in the USA and reinforced with black steel shaft springs.
