Original used tactical vest, also known as ETLBV (Enhanced Tactical Load Bearing Vest). The TLBV version was introduced into the US Army's IIFS system in 1988 to replace the outdated belt and suspender combination of the ALICE system.

• Four pouches for a total of six STANAG magazines for M16/M4
• Two pouches for M67-style grenades
• Magazine pouches feature an angled design for easier extraction
• Pouch closure via snap button and Velcro
• Waist adjustment with front straps and Fastex buckles, and drawstrings on the back
• Height adjustment via four straps on the shoulder padding
• Belt loops to secure equipment belt, fastened with snap button and Velcro
• Padded shoulder straps with the ability to attach accessories like a compass pouch or ALICE-style pouches
• On the lower back, strap and D-rings to attach a small assault pack
