Bowie knives made their appearance during the American Civil War, which was fought between 1861 and 1865 between the northern states and the United Confederacy in the southern states.

These knives were fearsome for their size alone; they had a long blade and, above all, a metal handguard, and were used as both a tool and an effective close-quarters weapon.

This replica of the Bowie knife from this period features an unsharpened carbon steel blade incorporating the CSA (Confederate States Army). The handle is made of dark wood and has a brass handguard.

The included sheath is made of stitched brown leather.
