Lynn C. Thompson, president of Cold Steels company, has countless polearms, spears and sticks (most recently with a Krabi Krabong stick, along with Guro Ron Balicki). In doing so, he discovered that a sturdy Okinawan-style octagonal Japanese stick could be an excellent interdisciplinary training device. For this reason, Cold Steel's first long training fighting stick has a traditional octagonal cross-section, which provides greater support and comfort.
