Swedish Forest fixed blade knife, stabilized curly birch CA-13118
Swedish Forest fixed blade knife, stabilized curly birch CA-13118
With a stabilized curly birch handle, which not only looks very elegant but is also water-repellent, washable and impact-resistant, these knives set new standards in the knife industry. The wood is treated here by vacuum injection with a mixture of hardened methacrylates. This process increases the density of the wood and makes the entire handle impervious to moisture, crack-resistant and impact-resistant.
This sturdy full tang knife is designed for a wide range of uses when hunting, fishing and for classic bushcraft tasks in the forest or outdoors. It is extremely robust and equally ideal for skinning game, filleting fish or working with wood. The blade is approximately 10 cm long and is made of approximately 3.5 mm thick Sandvik 14C28N, a Swedish stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 58-59 HRC, which was specially developed for knives. It is sharp, polished throughout and has a satin finish. The combination of steel and sharpening results in a knife that cuts effortlessly, works very well for all kinds of different tasks and has good edge retention, but can still be resharpened without any problems.Batoning or prying are quite unsuitable, but rather it is designed for efficient cutting.
The knife comes with a sturdy brown sheath made of 3mm thick vegetable-tanned leather. The sheath has a particularly wide belt loop, a drain hole and an eyelet for attaching a leg strap.
Steel information: 14C28N is the latest addition to Sandvik's famous collection of knife steels. Its optimized composition results in a unique combination of excellent properties in terms of edge retention (stability, sharpenability and sharpness), hardness and corrosion resistance. Since this steel can be heat-treated, even better wear resistance can be achieved compared to previous types of steel without affecting the microstructure. Thus, the blade can be sharpened relatively easily, but at the same time shows excellent edge resistance in terms of chipping/nicks and rolled edge (the so-called edge rolling).
