Cold Steel® high-quality Tomahawks are precision-forged from 1055 carbon steel. In the manufacture of impact tools, especially those equipped with a cutting edge, stamping offers many clear advantages. With the help of several dies (hollow molds/matrices), which are connected to enormous forging hammers, the steel is molded step-by-step into a completely homogeneous mass and pressed to achieve a uniform grain and minimize the formation of defects. All Cold Steel® Tomahawks are also differentially hardened: the cutting edge and the striking surface of the hammer are fully hardened so that they can be sharpened, while the rest of the head is kept softer to cushion blows and impacts.
