Cold Steel Crying Hawk Tomahawk
High-quality Cold Steel® Tomahawks are precision forged from 1055 carbon steel. In the manufacture of impact tools, especially those equipped with a cutting edge, stamping offers many clear advantages. With the help of various dies (hollow molds/matrices), which are connected with huge forging hammers, the steel is molded step by step into a completely homogeneous mass and pressed to achieve a uniform grain and minimize the formation of defects. All Cold Steel® Tomahawks are also differentially hardened: the cutting edge and the impact surface of the hammer are fully hardened so that they can be sharpened, while the rest of the head is kept softer to cushion blows and impacts.
American Tomahawk Company® is a registered trademark and a company of Cold Steel®, Inc.
1055 Carbon Steel
The carbon content and relatively small proportions of other substances in this steel make it a very stable material that is free of the inherent brittleness of most high-carbon steels. This steel is ideal for blades that are supposed to have high impact resistance and is therefore often used for large knives, machetes, and swords.
