On the medieval battlefield, the poleaxe (pollaxe or poleaxe) was the great equalizer between the simple foot soldier and the immensely powerful knight on horseback thanks to its long reach and sheer power. Surprisingly smooth, it was the machine gun of its era and simply unstoppable due to its maneuverability.

Today's poleaxe retains the same properties that made it famous on the battlefields of old. As capable of defeating modern armor today as that of the old knights, it proves truly effective.

Through years of experimentation and cross-training with axes, glaives, halberds, and other arms and poles from around the world, and by examining a variety of martial cultures, Lynn C. Thompson, founder of Cold Steel ®, discovered the enormous potential of the pole weapon against legions of opponents, even those equipped with modern armor and aids. As he had long held a special affection for this weapon, he decided to release his own modern interpretation of this impressive instrument.

The Cold Steel® poleaxe is expertly forged from 1055 carbon steel. The extremely sharp axe blade and robust hammerhead have been differentially hardened. Thus, their ends are hard, while the rest of the body is somewhat softer to dampen blows and impacts.

The sturdy ash wood shaft is made in the USA and reinforced with black steel shaft springs.
