Cold Steel CS-17D Small Kyoto I or Kyoto II Fixed Knife
Cold Steel CS-17D Small Kyoto I or Kyoto II Fixed Knife
Although Cold Steel® loves the tremendous cutting and penetrating power of large fixed-blade knives, there's no denying that such knives often attract unwanted attention or comments when you read them. Small fixed knives like the Kyoto, on the other hand, are less noticeable due to their smaller size and harmless appearance.
Kyoto knives are traditional (tanto) or reinforced (straight back) blade shaped and offer incredible cutting and impact potential that their modest stature does not suggest. The sturdy and strong blade of each knife has a wide tang that runs through the handle. There is also a stainless steel handguard and extremely non-slip Kray-Ex™ handle scales, which optically mimic the traditional cord wrapping of Japanese sword handles.
The slim and comfortable sheath is versatile. A ball chain or a Cold Steel® C-clip can be attached to it, and the knife can be carried in different ways.
8Cr13MoV Stainless Steel
8Cr13MoV has similar properties to AUS 8A and is a proven steel that is ideal for making work knives. Cold Steel's® own tests have shown that this stainless steel with a high carbon content is hard and corrosion resistant. Like AUS 8A, it shows good edge retention and can also be easily re-sharpened.
