Conventional axes are often too heavy for outdoor activities, mostly too unwieldy, in many cases too expensive and almost without exception difficult to transport. The crux of the matter: small axes are useless for many tasks, sufficiently sized axes do not fit in the backpack and burden the user with their heavy weight. Tony realizes that the axe can be disassembled with a tapered wooden shaft ground at the front and an axe head that can be pushed open from the handle side. With the first blow, the shaft is fixed in the eye of the axe head by centrifugal force, so that it can no longer be loosened by itself. A slight blow in the axial direction at the back of the shaft releases the axe head and it can be separated from the shaft. The axe head is designed in such a way that it is a useful tool even without the shaft. Instead of a continuous blade, the cutting edge of the Travelhawk is connected to the top by a kind of bridge.
